Meet your therapist
My name is Madiha Hussain, and I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying).

I believe therapy is most healing when it feels like a genuine human connection in a space where you feel seen, respected, and understood. I work from a client‑centered approach, offering warmth, curiosity, and unconditional positive regard so you can explore your experiences without judgment. My primary therapeutic orientation is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), a structured and short term model that helps identify and shift unhelpful thinking patterns. I also integrate essential elements of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and building resilience. My treatment planning involves cultivating self awareness, identifying areas where you feel stuck, and using targeted interventions to create meaningful change. I specialize in anxiety related disorders (including social anxiety, health anxiety, and OCD), depression (such as postpartum depression, seasonal and mood disorders), and relationship challenges (such as, parenting concerns, couples communication, and family dynamics). As a Gottman informed couples therapist, I help couples strengthen their relationships, navigate conflict more effectively, and move toward shared and personal goals with confidence. My knowledge of trauma-informed parenting strategies help families improve personal relationship, set boundaries, and foster mutual understanding across generations. My approach is structured yet warm, helping each person express themselves openly while learning to listen without defensiveness. For clients who wish, I offer Islamic‑informed counselling that honours faith, spiritual values, and cultural identity. I hold space for the emotional, relational, and spiritual parts of your story, integrating them in a way that feels authentic to you.
Background
My path into this work began long before I became a therapist. I completed my Bachelor’s in Child Studies and Psychology at Concordia University, where I developed a deep appreciation for how early experiences, attachment, and family systems shape us. Before entering the mental health field, I spent a decade as an educator which taught me how to connect with young people, understand the pressures they carry, and support them through emotional and relational challenges. That background continues to guide my work with youth, teens, and young adults, especially those navigating trauma, identity shifts, and complex family dynamics. It also informs the way I support parents in building safety, connection, and attunement at home.
At the heart of my practice is a simple belief: with the right support, insight, and tools, people can grow in ways they never imagined. I’m here to walk alongside you as you move toward that growth.
